Why Black Entrepreneurs Need Positioning Before Marketing Tactics

  • Episode #279

What if your biggest business block isn’t marketing but positioning rooted in limiting beliefs? Jean-Philippe Vezina shares with Michi Lantz how Black entrepreneurs can rewire generational trauma, reclaim cultural identity, and build wealth without losing their roots.

Jean-Philippe Vézina is a strategic advisor and ecosystem builder working at the intersection of Afro-descendant entrepreneurship, agri-food systems, and market positioning. His work focuses on a key challenge: helping entrepreneurs move beyond visibility to build structured, scalable, and culturally rooted business models. As a Board Member of the Canada-Africa Chamber of Commerce (CACC), he contributes to strengthening economic corridors between Canada and African markets, with a focus on agri-food value chains, transformation, and long-term partnerships.

Through Movez Coaching, he supports founders, brands, and organizations-particularly within Afro-descendant communities-in clarifying their positioning, structuring their growth, and accessing new markets without diluting their identity. He is known for challenging the idea that marketing alone drives growth, arguing instead that identity and positioning are the real leverage points for sustainable success.
