Standing Out (Jeff Cobb)

  • Episode #81

With experience creating courses for businesses, individuals, and himself over two decades, Jeff Cobb shares his perspective on the crowded course landscape. Succeeding today takes more than it did just a few years ago, but Jeff will show you the way.

Jeff Cobb is the founder of Learning Revolution and host of the Leading Learning podcast. He has been a course creator for 20 years.

In this episode, Ari, Abe, and Jeff discuss:

  • What it takes to have a standout course business these days
  • Course differentiation
  • The gap between an average and a great facilitator
  • Examples of engaging with your learners
  • What solopreneur and independent experts can learn from an organizational approach to course creation
  • Credentials and certifications
“If you’re not actually creating an effective learning experience, the value is not going to be there. You’re going to have a hard time attracting people in the first place, and then you’re going to have a hard time getting them to come back.”

– Jeff Cobb

Jeff Cobb is a managing director of Tagoras, founder of Learning Revolution, and author of multiple books, including Leading the Learning Revolution: The Expert’s Guide to Capitalizing on the Exploding Lifelong Education Market.

As a strategic advisor and entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience in the global market for lifelong learning he has helped thousands of organizations and individuals maximize the reach, revenue, and impact of their educational offerings. In addition to his work at Tagoras and Learning Revolution, Jeff serves on the board of directors of the Family Firm Institute and recently completed two 3-year terms on the governing board of NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement, to which he was specifically appointed as an education thought leader.
