What happens when governance is treated as a human skill, not a checklist? Governance and EQ expert Paul Dubal of Perfect Balance Consulting talks with Michi Lantz about ethical leadership, board dynamics, and scaling impact when leaders resist feedback.

Paul Dubal is a corporate governance and regulatory expert with 25 years of experience across the UK, Canada, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, including leadership roles at KPMG and PwC and senior in-house roles in listed financial services companies. He has advised boards and executive teams globally, and previously served as Head of Corporate Governance at First Abu Dhabi Bank, where he built the bank’s governance framework and supported governance across 20 jurisdictions.
He is also a certified coach and EQ-i emotional intelligence practitioner, supporting boards and leaders through governance training, executive coaching, and practical governance solutions. Paul is the global lead facilitator for the ISO 37000 Governance of Organizations certification, author of EQ for the Governance Professional, and creator of the Udemy course Boardroom Conflict Resolution. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada and holds an LLB and a postgraduate diploma in legal practice.
